[The Wisdom of a Distracted Mind] A Day. A Picture. Enjoy!

To be honest, I actually took this picture yesterday, and that does defeat the purpose behind this whole notion of a "Daily Picture." But, in my defense, today's a very busy day, and I'm not sure if I'll be able to get out with my camera.

I didn't do it.

Yup. It's a knocked-over fireplug. You'll notice that, unlike the whole Hollywood mythos, it's not spraying a huge geyser of water straight into the air. That's kind of a downer, but it is winter spring after all, and I don't know about you, but that freakin' water has got to be cold.

Now, don't worry too much about the potential for a blazing inferno running unchecked through Southeastern Wisconsin as a result of this dysfunctional hydrant. What you don't see in the picture is the nice, big, empty, open field which, for some reason, this plug protects.

Aside from that, why am I posting all these daily pictures? Well... What better way is there to familiarize myself with this nifty new camera? Plus, it's actually kind of fun, and I'm sure I'll be writing about that just as soon as I get the chance.

Right now, however, I've gotta scoot and get things done. If I don't get back here, have a great day, everyone.

  1. Fires in a dry field can skip right across in a few instants -- but I suspect the field is as icy/snowy covered as this patch, and not really flammable at the moment.

Of course, if you happened to submit this photo to your local newspaper, it may fire up someone somewhere, and it'd likely get "fixed."
