Arrrrgh...

Hey all.  Sorry I've not been able to write a whole heck of a lot lately (I apologize if you've gotten too much work done).  Things here have been made difficult as a result of a nasty explosion of arthritis which has made things like typing, walking and pretty much anything else quite difficult and painful.

My thumbs don't really work all that well, and though I like bananas, I really don't want to loose my opposable little gift which separates me from my banana-chomping primate brethren.  I need my thumbs.  And, the use of a couple of fingers, would be nice as well.  Not many. All I really need to survive are two thumbs, my index fingers and a semi-functional, pain-free middle finger for driving purposes.

Anyway, my doctor is leery to prescribe painkillers, and over the last couple of days, I've been reduced to begging like a strung-out junkie as I've called and said that the 10 to 12 Advil I take over the course of a day are just not cutting the mustard.  Ergo, I would like a new mustard cutter.

From what I understand, good, moral folks such as Rush Limbaugh have a whole medicine cabinet full of mustard-cutting narcotics which, ironically, he doesn't need.  Perhaps I will call his radio show and say "Hey!  I need to open a can of soup, so don't bogart the percosets you dumb, fat bastard."

  1. You're back! I had visons of you going to jail after giving into a road rage moment, rehab, or worse of all, a non clot busting, cheese induced arterial event. Keep away from Rush. Next, you'll stroke out if you try to find him or his contacts. Does "Conservative Mafia" mean nothing to you?

  4. Oh you poor pathetic thing . . . if you do indeed end up losing your thumbs or they have to just go ahead and amputate elbow down I will come there and open your bottle tops and drive you around. . . it must be hard getting old and all, I wouldn't know, :-D I'm still young and agile, but either way I will help ya out, as long as you hold my hair outta the giant porcelian bowl . . . oh wait, you wouldn't have hands, never mind.

Take care, I honestly hope you feel better.

  5. Oh, Dan, I am so sorry that you are in pain. If I lived closer, I'd come over and rub BenGay on ya. Then we'd visit your doctor and I'd break a couple of his fingers and threaten to break more if he didn't write you a nice fat script. Then I'd buy you a bag of heroin and a very GENTLE prostitute.

    Your caring friend,
    Cin

  6. Dan,

I am sorry you are in pain.  I take it that your arthritis is psoriatic arthritis, yes?  Has your rheumy considered putting you on one of the biologics approved for it; such as enbrel, humira or remicade?  I would look into it, if it hasn't been mentioned to you.  There is a world of help opening up out there besides pain killer for the symptoms.

    be well,
    Dawn

  7. Poor darlin.  I feel your pain.  Really I do.  Luckily for me my doc gives me just about whatever I want/need. I will say a prayer that your DR comes to his senses.  If he doesn't CHANGE docs.  You have the right to live as pain free as you  can.  Feel better soon.

I believe that God put on  Earth to accomplish a certain number of things.  Right now I am so far behind, I will never die.
    Hugs, Barb

  11. Dan,

I'm 37 and know all too well the pains associated with arthritis. I have days that it takes a whole lot just to be able to get out of bed and handle my day to day activities. I'm on medication but I also use parafin spa treatments at home. I have also integrated the use of glucosamine chondroitin and Noni juice. Both have worked wonderfully for me. You are in my prayers.

    Peace,

    Tanya
