The passing of Tim Russert is one of those losses which simply leaves me aching and gutted inside. I just can't believe it. He was only 58.
This is just sad, terrible, shocking news.
The world of journalism has lost what could very well be its most fair, its most honest, and its most impartial voice at a time when such things are increasingly rare and at a premium.
I was reading his latest post earlier today in which he stresses the importance of maintaining the truth and our perspective in this year's presidential campaign, and now, those words are simply ringing around me right now as though they are a hope that needs to be fulfilled.
Damn it. At a time when so many in the news business insist on doing it wrong, Tim Russert was one of the few who did things right.
