[The Wisdom of a Distracted Mind] Hello Ladies!

Here's something pretty for you on this warm and wonderful lazy Sunday in June.

Ribbons.

See? It's all pretty and ribbony and stuff like that.

I've got these peonies growing along side the house, and they attract bees and ants and sundry bugs and whatnots. In other words, they are the perfect thing to plant next to a freakin' house!

I'd like to meet the genius who planted them.

Oh well, if nothing else, at least they look kind of nice.

  1. Are you saying that you think ladies are purty and smell nice, but not to get too close?  Do we bite? sting? and whatnot?  LOL  great pic and great journal.  Thanks Sue

  2. Peonies are a beautiful ful blooming flower. Nice to look out but from a distance. Ants galore in the Philly area this week have to go to Home Depot for more spray. Bill

  3. Gorgeous picture. Peonies are meant to be enjoyed from a distance literally. Something few people realize is they need ants to bloom. The ants eat off the outer layer of the buds and the peonies are able to open. So your not far off the mark saying they attract bugs (winks)...A word of warning these are best planted AWAY from your house. (Hugs)Indigo

  4. Peonies are gorgeous, but I've learned to not bring the blooms into the house, because they're loaded with ants! I think it's how they get pollinated. If that's not true, it still sounds pretty logical.

  5. Yep, they do attract the seedier kind of bugs. At least they don't last too long before falling apart and making a huge mess of the garden. (The peonies that is, not the bugs).
