So Far, I Am Not Impressed...

There are certain perks that come with living along the lake.  Sure, we can get the dreaded lake-effect snow that, in the past, has dumped a foot and a half on my house while my brother, who lives around ten miles to the West, got maybe an inch.  But, the blizzard that rolled through last night did pretty much the exact opposite.  What fell here was mostly rain and sleet, and with a 30-60 mph wind off the lake, everything tumbling out of the sky was blown way off the the West, away from me and in my twin brother's yard.  I'm guessing, so far, he's got about a foot of snow over at his place, and I, on the other hand, only have about an inch or two of really heavy, wet slush.

    Ha!  I win again.

On the other hand, this storm did wreak some serious havoc in other parts of the country, and I'm hoping everyone out there fared well and managed to survive.

So, considering I didn't sleep very well due to rattling windows and the incessant roar of an angry Lake Michigan, my brain's a little mushy at the moment and thinking is not something I'm all that interested in doing.  In fact, right now, I'm going to step outside to see if I can find my Sunday paper.  Hopefully, the person delivering it managed to play the wind and threw it straight at my neighbor's house to get it to land on my porch.

Anyway, feel free to write in and share your Sunday.  Did the storm effect you in any way?  I know Promise is pretty much buried in Minnesota (sorry about that, by the way).  Just don't try to make me think too hard.  I really am trying to save my last functional brain cell in my head.

  4. Shhhhh...........if we're very, very quiet and don't think about it, maybe just maybe it will creep right on by NY and not know we are here. (Roll eyes) A girl can hope can't she. I stopped by promise's journal and left a msg. (which I noticed you didn't , your really awful about leaving comments (winks) ). It's a nice reminder that our Journals are suppose to be fun, supportive, and most of all ours. We all should try not to spread ourselves so thin. Yes, Dan I can hear you yahoooing and saying my words exactly. But you do have a few loyal readers that like to hear from you from time to time. Am I giving you a hard time??? Ummm  no I don't have the equipment to be hard. LOL Love Ya Indigo

  8. BTW... do 60mph winds make waves on Lake Michigan?

By "waves," I mean "15 foot high rollers."

  11. Hello, We had some really terrible weather in Georgia last night but it was a nice day today. I heard that Alabama got some real terrible weather and there was some injuries and deaths which was sad to hear. Did you survive the bad weather ?

With this entry you reminded me of my favorite movie "The Lake House". I will have to watch it tonight after reading your entry. Thanks again.

  13. Where's Waldo?
    Errr, I mean, Where's Dan??

Sources have been on the lookout, poised with camera's waiting for the emergance of a certain Dan aka Distracted Mind. Winter snow poles have been used to poke around in the snow banks near his home, but has produced no results. Trees are being checked in case the high winds blew him upwards.

This correspondent only hopes he is well, safe and secure. Looking for a sign............

  20. Another wildly amusing post.  Oh, WOULD that I had a snow story to share.  But being in Vegas, the only "snow" around is the kind one carries around in little vials, and snorts after cutting it up into lines on one's compact - with a Platinum credit card, probably...

Being from Utah, I miss the snow terribly.  I never skied, but I did have a lot of fun packing snowballs with little rocks and ice chunks, and then hurling them (with professional-ball-player speed and accuracy) at people I didn't like.

Erm, wait a minute - my memory got confused.  I was on the RECEIVING end of such snowballs!  (I just KNEW that didn't "sound" right as I typed it...)

Anyhoo, enjoy the icy goodness while it lasts.  Soon it will be summer, and you'll be swamped with mosquitos.

Now THERE'S something to look forward to...

    Have a wonderful Sunday!

  23. Good Morning~
I had no idea you live in Michigan. I've been in love with MI for years and years! Maine and Michigan, my two favorite places. And where do I live? Stupid Las Vegas....LMBO! But hubby's work brought us here and i just had to follow...lol. I have severl friends I have met on the Internet, one in a cancer support group that live in MI. One lives in Grand Blanc which is close to Flint and the other lives in Kalamazoo. I'm sorry you didn't get more snow.....such a bummer. I'm originally from Reno/Lake Tahoe, Nevada and we get our fair share of snow, but nothing like MIchigan.
    Love your journal!

    Huggers,
    Gayla
