A couple of days ago, Editor Joe posted an entry about "The Ultimate Blog Post." He linked to a rather comical site which showcased posts in blogs which best typified the theme of the blog itself.
From there, Paul (of course, I always steal stuff from P-Litty), did an entry asking people to come up with the quintessential Aurora Walking Vacation post.
Now, I'd like to take that whole notion one step further and ask you all to come up with an idea for a post that would best typify this journal, and I will write it.
In other words, you give me some of the "ingredients" for a post that would best define this journal, and I'll do an entry next weekend (hopefully) including as many of those elements as I can.
Unfortunately, the theme of this blog is that there really is no theme. So, you pretty much have the freedom to suggest pretty much anything, I think.
Anyway, I'll let you all get to work and have fun playing editor. You can leave your suggestions in the comment thread, or you can send them via email to DPoem@aol.com.

Let's see...yeah, I see a theme here in your blog. I'd call it Stealing from Paul, ya big weenie!
ReplyDeleteNow honesty Dan, it seems to me that you have a difficult time obtaining the simple things in life. It might be better put that you have a tendency to over complicate the little things. You know, where to drink beer, buying cheddar wurst, getting gas. I have to say, these are your shining moments in bloggery.
ReplyDeleteHello.....How about this idea.....
ReplyDeleteHow about asking people why they started writing journals and why they share them with the world. I think that would get some people started thinking. I found a site that really got me to thinking about why I started keeping my journal at J-Land. The site is titled "Journally Yours" here is a link ------- http://libragem007.blogspot.com/ . A woman by the name of Gemma writes it and she keeps what she calls "The Red Notebook" in it her husband wrote her something which was really amazing and his writing really got me to thinking.
One of his questions was " What is it about writing that opening up or talking to someone would not solve ? " that question he wrote really has got me to thinking about my journal as well. I think this would be a really great idea to ask people why they share their journals. This is just a thought of mine. Thanks for sharing this entry. Take care.

As this one does, your post will open with the admission that all your best ideas are stolen from me. You will then admit that you generally ignore those ideas and write posts about cheddar wursts and beer instead. After that you'll talk about that imaginary woman that, in your dreams, puts up with you calling her silly names before the entire world in your blog. And you'll probably mention beer at least one more time before you wind up lamely with an "I gotta go," or something like that.

what an interesting idea. Now, I need to thing of something. LOL.
ReplyDeleteI don't think anyone has mentioned cats. Or pictures of cats. [Probably because they're afraid.]
ReplyDeleteMrs. L
I still think my favorite entry was the one about your cats and cat-dog. I still giggle at inopportune times when I think of the cat that suns itself on top of your Jeep - four paws in the air - petrified kitty! hee hee That MUST be in there!
ReplyDeleteBlame NAFTA, Paul.
ReplyDeleteHmmm.... maybe a post about the randomness of life? I love your journal because it is always funny, thoughtful and eclectic... lots of different types of entries... always with heart.
ReplyDeleteSorry.. that doesn't help worth a damn does it?
How about a 9/11 post for today?
be well,
Dawn

Isn't your theme "Beer, Bowling Alleys, and Cheese"? And, of course, bacon-eating Zombies must come into play. And cat-dog. Hmmm...

Your a good writer! dpoem , interesting screen name, you must appreciate poetry.
ReplyDeletei've written poems on and off for thirthy three years.IN 1986 i went to Hawaii for a month , and I kept a diary for the first time in my life. I was surprised how much it helped a few years down the line. I"ve written maybe a thousand poems-
ninety percent of them were trash five percent i'm deceiving myself that they have a chance and one percent not good enough either. none of them are very good! I keep a hundred around to read occasionally and send some short love poems to poetry .com. sixty words a line , twenty lines max. That works for me. one of my goals is to write a simple love song similar to JOhn Lennon's "love is real". i've been trying for thirty years , i'm getting closer with the poetry , but i have to work on that beautiful melody that came natural to JOhn Lennon but not for me. Creativity and the imagination, are still king, but prayer has no side effects. I stumbled across my first experience after saying an unselfish prayer one day , I try to pray unselfishly every day but i don't write down the prayer. That's the problem. One day attached to a prayer came a simple unusual poem
called The third floor of Love. I wrote the poem and put it on poetry .com but that was a blundeer. If I* would have written down the prayer , if I only could have writtten down the prayer.Ther prayer was the important thing , I couldn't remember which silent unselfish prayer it was.I believe some of the best songs
poetry, and all other art forms will be directly related to prayer. diaries are great
journals are great , but prayer , how do we start writing prayer.
