[The Wisdom of a Distracted Mind] More Burning Stupid...

I like this quote from Ben Stein:
"Assuming it all did happen by Random Mutation and Natural Selection, where did the laws of gravity come from?"
I'm going to have to keep that one handy on days when I'm feeling dumb.

Ben Stein has been making the rounds trying to hype a creationist propaganda piece called Expelled: No Intellegence Allowed (That's actually a pretty ironic title when you think about the gurgling, anti-intellectual crowd of heaving, irrational zealots behind the thing). Perhaps the best bit comes when Mr. Stein and the folks behind this film decide to hold a press conference to promote the movie, yet they make the reporters present sign non-disclosure agreements, and they carefully vet the questions to allow only softballs pitched their way.

Now, I'm not a member of the journalism community anymore, but I'm thinking that NDA's tend to run wholly contrary to the notion of a press conference as a free-exchange of information.

Anyway, here's a really hilarious article by Dan Whipple about his experience at this surreal summit of creationist hypocrisy.
The Search for Truth, God and Braver Scientists in 'Expelled'
It's some hard-core stupid dribbling from the head of Ben Stein in this article, and it really does shatter what little respect I once held for the man. He used to be a funny entertainer, but he's been hooked into the crowd of the anti-intellectuals and the anti-rational people who see too much education as a bad thing, and they openly shun the provable facts and reality of the world around them.

Ah well... I just wanted to get that off my chest today.
